DMX can provide valuable information about the stability and/or
injury of all 22 major ligaments in the cervical spine which cannot be detected by motionless MRI, CT, or Static X-ray.
MRI of the cervical spine is designed to evaluate DISC injuries while not moving, lying down, and not swallowing. Headaches , posterior neck pain or referred pain are commonly caused by ligament injuries which cannot be detected by motionless MRI, CT, or Static X-ray.
Digital motion X-ray (DMX) takes x-ray images while the patient is moving compared to conventional still or static x-rays, CAT scans, and MRI’s where the patient is told to “do not move and hold still.” The digital motion x-ray study is performed while the patient is in a weight bearing standing position and moving the body through different planes of motion. Each plane of motion tests for damage to the specific ligaments responsible for that motion and joint stability.
